Polymorphic Hinged Cuff

Polymorphic Hinged Cuff

Brass hinged cuff with acrylic and glass panels. Designed and made to order in our Sydney studio.

Due to the complexity of this piece, it takes 4 to 6 weeks to complete from order date.

The brass structure is textured while in wax form, before being cast in brass, using lost wax technique.

After high polishing the brass by hand, the acrylic and glass panels are tension set in the cuff. Each acrylic panel is hand engraved with a star like pattern, before being set with a glass cabochon handmade in our Sydney studio.

The glass cabochons are set using a specially developed system inspired by the stone setting technique "bezel setting". The pressure created by the acrylic holds the glass in place, without the use of glue or any other material. In turn the brass body of the cuff holds the acrylic panels using the same basic pressure principle.

One of the acrylic panels is laser engraved with JOAO VAZ.
