Personal Development Project - 2004

Project Brief:

Promote technical exploration and expertise.

Creative use of materials and methods of joining them.

Develop the essence and personal style as a designer.

In a desperate attempt to avoid the exhausting and hard explanation of my intentions I tried to detach myself emotionally and transform the whole project into a technical exercise. I experimented with claw and channel stone settings and got inspiration from jewellery I saw in the Argos catalogue. By the end of the project I felt I was failing others and mine expectations and was not being honest and generous. When I decided to involve myself creatively with the project the portfolio became my emotional discharge platform, resulting in the explosion of colour and movement I had pursued for along time. By the deadline neither the pieces nor the portfolio were complete, but I was happier then ever.
